Farm to cup

That coffee you're drinking wasn't born in a laboratory.  It grew out of the earth, on a tree, on a farm thousands of miles away along the equator, somewhere between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.  That coffee tree grew for three years before it started producing "cherries," and even when mature will only produce 1kg - 5kg of fruit in a season.  Those coffee cherries were picked when ripe and processed in the local community to remove the outer pulp, then washed, sorted and dried out in the sun.  After drying, the resulting coffee parchment were collected, packed and shipped to a mill where the dry parchment skin was removed, finally exposing the recognizable green coffee bean.

It was this green coffee bean which was sorted by machines, sorted by hand, sampled for quality and shipped around the world to be roasted to perfection by your favorite specialty coffee roaster, Sträva Craft Coffee!

ABOUT PRODIGY COFFEE

Prodigy Coffee is a non-profit organization and we hire young adults from northeast Denver into a paid apprenticeship in one of our two coffeehouses. Here they discover their own inherent greatness while learning to run a craft coffeehouse. The apprenticeship is a 12-18 month experience, designed by educators, of deep work and deep learning in a culture of healing.

Through personal development and hands-on learning in a Prodigy enterprise, young adults build a foundation of mindsets and skills for sustainable lives, economic mobility and, most importantly, to go forth and enrich their cit to become the next generation of leaders this city wants and needs.
